Long Range Forecast: 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' and 'The Change-Up'

Featured Stories - on June 11, 2011 by Phil Contrino

61011forecast.pngWe've added Rise of the Planet of the Apes and The Change-Up to our Long Range Forecast. Both films are scheduled to open on August 5.

Look for James Franco to rebound with Rise of the Planet of the Apes after being attached to the massive Your Highness bomb and suffering through a disastrous Oscar hosting gig. Moviegoers want comfortable options during the summer, and that's exactly what they'll get with Apes. It's a familiar property that is ripe for rebooting. It's been ten years since Tim Burton's attempt to kick-start the franchise opened to polarized reactions at best.

The Change-Up could easily join Bridesmaids as one of the summer's biggest comedies. The high-concept premise of two friends switching bodies is easy to digest, and the first trailer plays like gangbusters. It's going to be a big summer for stars Jason Bateman and Ryan Reynolds. Bateman has Horrible Bosses in July, while Reynolds opens Green Lantern on June 17.

Check out our predictions for these films and others in the table below.
